Behold. . . Optic Blast! (7/23/2008 : 12:48:10 PM)

If you're reading this you've probably already seen the new index page. In short, since the costume migration went so well (re: not well) and I've had such spectacular help (big thanks, S) in the catch up arena, I decided to make the switch.
If it weren't absolutely obvious I'm nowhere near done with all the page upgrades, but I could not longer stomach operating on two versions of the truth. I figure, if anything major breaks maybe we'll actually get some forum activity!
Regardless, I am maintaining a fab 3.0 thread there for every single update I make to the site, so if you're curious give it a look.
As always, more to come and thanks for supporting. -F. |
Errors and Costumes and Redirects oh my! (6/18/2008 : 10:21:05 AM)
|
God bless this mess, right? As I continue to undo the design sins of the old site, sometimes pages wind up a little bent and other times entirely broken. In such cases where there is no possible reconciliation, I am prematurely redirecting outdated pages to their 3.0 revamps.
While harder, better, faster, and stronger in format there are a few cases where the revamps are missing valuable content. Take a look at costumes, if you want to see what I mean.
I only ask that you bear with me while I make the site makes its transition (its worth it, trust me), and report any wierdness on the forums.
Thanks, The Management |

By now you've probably noticed some wierd stuff popping up on the ole' content ticker next door. Well, thats what happens when you migrates to a new design but keeps the old update database. What you're missing is updates done to the new pages, that will remain 'invisible' until the site switches over to the 3.0 design at some point in the whenever I get it done future. If you'd like a sneak peak at just what sort of progress is being made on the 3.0 front, head over to this thread (http://fenixware.suddenlaunch.com/index.cgi?board=fab&action=display&num=1202483107). I've been keeping it up to date with all the news pages as they get done, so you approve observe, then approve or disprove in my general digital direction as you please.
As if it needs to be said, there's still way more to come. -F. |
You Can't Give It Up (1/29/2008 : 1:28:30 PM)
|
It was right around this time last year that first year fab started metamorphisizing into what you see now, and now the update train is rolling again.
For compatibilities sake, I'll be rolling out the upgrades steadily instead of a lump update, so you may find some pages changed, and others missing entirely in your travels. I recommend you keep http://www.fenixware.net/fab/ as your starting point, and trust to the menus buttons for navigation as opposed to bookmarks and favorites until the dust clears.
I'll try to keep this page up to date when something actually changes, so you can drop us feedback on the forums and as always, suggestions are welcome.
Enjoy. -F. |

Not quite as productive as weeks past, but still been at it. Most recent improvements have been hinged about the administrative side of things, since this is the first time the submission system has been publicly stress tested. Since last post, more changes have been made to the new credit pages, moveslist pages, and main pages. The master games page can now listed by each games release date, and characters can be filtered by listed voice actors. My sights are presently set upon the relationships pages, so expect to see some significant development there in the near future.

Has the evil king returned back? (8/14/2007 : 4:48:13 PM)

Okay, new credit system is finally functional. See the recognition link under the main menu, or just click the links at the bottom of all our pages. Gameplay data has been seperated out onto its own "How to Play" page since a lot of games are starting to have a lot of it. There will be more developments on that front in the near future. There is also a neat new selection option for the games page, you can now look at all the fighting games on FAB by their release dates. Of course that all depends on how accurate our data is, but clearly this will be a step in the right direction.
More is on the horizon, as always. -F. |
Requiem for 50,000 People (8/10/2007 : 5:17:17 PM)

To say that I've been busy would be quite an understatement, but I think for the most part its paying off. For starters, you will notice that all of the visual themes have the pretty gradients jumping off. Or maybe you don't, because I've also given viewers the ability to turn off the new "imbelishments" in favor of the more classic looking sight. All of which can be set here. I have also fixed a long standing bug with release dates for game subs and they are no longer starred as mandatory. Speaking of subs, you can now submit images to the site if you feel so inclined.
Lastly, since a great deal of our bio subs have birthdates with years, I have changed the way birthdate rankings work to calculate how actually old a character is in real years, which you can see in action here.
On the content side of things, I have made a few more stabs at the wealth of Fighter Mania data willed to me from Siegfried, Mortis has been digging deep in star gladiator land, and a new contributor The S has descended upon us with a wealth of info here and there as well.. as always, you can track our efforts in the column to the right.
Enjoy, -F. |
Handsome fighters never lose battles. (8/6/2007 : 1:10:41 PM)

Depending on what you're looking at with which browser, and using one of our fancy shmanshy themes you may have noticed some change around here as of late. My growing understanding of CSS has enabled some nifty use of gradients here and there (though you'll only notice if using the Goenitz theme so far) and there are now tool tips for all the terminology and tag links. I've also played with the way a lot of stuff looks like just for grins and giggles, so if you have an opinion, drop on by the forums and share it.

A Rowdy as Rough and Wild as a Winter Storm (7/3/2007 : 4:02:42 PM)
|
Haven't been able to keep up with weekly news updates but I assure you, the site is still growing.
I've added pictures to the right side content updates, and I've added a trivia search to the menu up above. Numerous other tweaks about as well as a lot of content what with the flurry of Soul Calibur, Tekken, and KoF news of late. Fixed some code that allowed links to character pages that don't exist.
I've also added a relationships table to character bios, which tracks lineage and also master/student relationships for characters. Not too many people have them done, but I am working to remedy that.
Credit has been beefed up again, nifty images for me and Mortis, anyone else who subs and wants one email me and it shall be done. It's also linked to the new credit page which lists reviews done by the creditor. It'll eventually show approved subs too.
Stay Tuned. -F. |
I seem to have forgotten what I have. (6/12/2007 : 12:17:51 PM)

You'll notice the search feature up above, now you can search our entire listing of quotes for "disease called life" or "weenie" any time you like. I've also added a "Similar Games" feature to the games pages that functions not unlike the same feature on character pages. Lastly, character moveslists have been modified so you can now view moves as characters earned them in games, or just see what moves they had in a particular game.
Content wise, I was given a hefty donation from Siegfried of Fighter Mania fame, and will be assimilating all of his data as I have the time. My usual plot based submissions will be rolling in steadily and I'm sure ExMortis will eventually come about with something people actually want to see like costumes, quotes, appearances or arenas.
And of course there's some hot stuff on the horizon as usual, just as soon as I figure out how to code it (=.
Enjoy, -F. |
