Other Facts and Information
Takuma's wife's name was Ronnet. She was killed sometime before AoF, and as a result Takuma fell into drinking and gambling. As a result, Mr. Big and Geese Howard were able to manipulate him into the organization as Mr. Karate. When he attempted to leave, Mr. Big kidnapped Yuri, and hid her away to keep him subservient. Only when Ryo defeated him was the truth revealed.
It is known that Ryo defeated him with his new signature technique, the Ryoku Ranbu, at the conclusion of AoF1 but it is unknown wether Takuma deliberately gave him the chance to use it or not.(*) Likewise, though it seems impossible that both of them competed and did not meet, somehow Takuma disabled Mr. Big and Ryo disabled Geese without fighting each other during the course of AoF2.
Like all the other AoF main characters, Takuma has become inspiration fodder for the Street Fighter joke character, Dan Hibiki. His single arm up win pose and his haohshikoken have both been parodied by Dan, and Dan's father Go Hibiki is a joke version of Takuma's Mr. Karate persona.
Takuma's Haohshokoken is the "staple" technique of the Kyokugenryu style, and is his most powerful move. Though all of his students have mastered it, he is documented as being the most masterful, hence his technique being called Haoh-Shi-Ko-Ken. Though it has been a relatively normal attack for him in game, from a storyline standpoint only Geese Howard is known to have defended against his Haohshikoken at full strength. Likewise, Takuma's Haohshikoken was able to deflect (at least part of) the Zero Cannon blast that destroyed Southtown in KoF2k.
One of the few inconsistencies between Mr. Karate and Takuma is that "Mr. Karate" always has a Koho like uppercut in his moveslist, while "Takuma" has never once had one. Wether this implies that Takuma only fights his hardest as Mr. Karate or that he does it to help distance himself from his alter-ego is unconfirmed. The storyline signifigance of this is slim to none though.(*)
As of KoF2k's ending, Takuma has accepted King as the mother of Kyokugenryu, more than likely implying that he accepts her as the mother of his grandchildren / Ryo's wife. Wether the two of them are that serious about it or not is up to debate, but Takuma seems to think things are pretty far along.(*)
Unlike the other AoF charaters, Takuma seems to be aged appropriately to the Fatal Fury characters. He still seems to be a little younger than he probably should be, but when KoF starts he is at least a little older looking than his AoF2 persona.(*)
All three of his students feel that Takuma is past his prime, and more than a little eccentric. Regardless, even as of KoF 2K1 he is considered to be one of the most powerful individuals in the KoF universe.
